The Stamp Act
In 1765 a new act was impossed to the colonist in America. It was called the Stamp Act. It was imposed by the British Parliament and King George III. Basically it required that printed materials were printed on paper made in London and contained a revenue stamp in written materials as newspapers, magazines, documents, etc. Its purpose was to pay the cost of the Seven Year War. The king thought that the colonist were the most benefited from the war, so they should pay a portion of the cost.
It certaintly was an opposed act and colonist began to gather themselves against this. British exportations were also threatened by this act. The Stamp Act Comitee as well as the colonist protested and preassured the British Parliament to abolish the Stamp Act. Eventually it was eliminated in March 18, 1766.
